Areas of Practice

  • Perinatal Support and Maternal Wellness

With extensive experience working with women in obstetrics, neonatology, and pediatrics, I have provided support and counseling throughout the reproductive journey. Whether you are trying to conceive, are pregnant, or are a new mother, the process can be exciting, terrifying, and overwhelming. You might have expected an easier time becoming or being pregnant or are dealing with fertility struggles or perinatal loss. You might have had a picture of a certain type of pregnancy or birth experience that did not go as planned. You might be feeling overwhelmed or anxious as a new mother, struggling with baby blues, or experiencing a postpartum mood or anxiety disorder. You might be processing a traumatic birth, feeling guilty about your complicated feelings surrounding your new role as a mother, or feeling isolated from friends and family. I will provide a place for you to normalize these emotions, process your feelings, and focus on your own mental health and wellbeing.

  • Grief and Bereavement

Helping an individual process their grief in anticipation of or following the death of a significant individual has been a true passion of mine for nearly a decade. I have experience in palliative care and end of life discussions, preparing a family for the death of a loved one, supporting them during those last moments, and providing bereavement therapy in both individual and group settings. I am honored to hold that space for my clients to process and explore an experience that even in its universality can still be so challenging and isolating for many people. There is no natural end to grief so it is always the right time to seek help in facing a death and honoring a person’s life. I will use a sensitive and tender approach to help sit with your sadness, address any complex feelings surrounding your relationship with the individual, and eventually move towards coping with your grief. I have a specific focus on pregnancy, infant, and child loss and also supporting children in processing the death of a parent, sibling, or other close family member.

  • Children and Parenting

With diverse experience working with children and their caregivers in schools, hospitals, and individual therapy, I support kids in identifying their emotions and building coping skills that will lay the foundation for secure and confident futures. I utilize developmentally appropriate language and education with children, drawing on their own interests and strengths as inspiration for therapeutic techniques. I similarly support parents and other primary caregivers, providing education and tools to help raise emotionally intelligent, compassionate, and self-confident children, while also addressing caregivers’ own needs as individuals and finding balance in the other aspects of their lives. I have specific experience in working with children with chronic illness, caregivers or siblings of children with an acute or chronic illness, and children experiencing the death of a significant individual.

  • Young People

Therapy in its most fundamental form is a space to take the time to focus on your unique identity and actualize personal growth. The most important relationship a young person has in their twenties or thirties is with themself as this opens the door to meaningful relationships, professional success, and a fulfilling future. It is not uncommon during this time to struggle with the shift to adulthood and its new responsibilities and opportunities, have self-doubt about one’s beliefs and values, compare oneself negatively to one’s peers, and experience fear with transitions or significant life choices. This can lead to anxiety, depression, and feelings of negative self-worth. I will meet you without judgment to assist you in navigating relationships, considering personal and professional opportunities, and allowing yourself to be open to your own self-exploration. I hope to create a candid and warm space for you to be your true, authentic self.

  • Healthcare Workers

Through many years of hospital-based social work and experience facilitating staff support groups and debriefing sessions, I found that I had the unique ability to support healthcare workers experiencing burn-out, compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, and disillusionment with the healthcare system. The work of medical providers is rarely dinner table conversation and this, coupled with confidentiality and bureaucratic hurdles, can lead to medical providers feeling isolated and not seeking necessary counseling or therapy, especially within their own institutions. I will hold a space to listen to and help you process difficult experiences and address your secondary traumatic stress allowing you to care for your patients with the empathy, sensitivity, and care you need while also practicing your own self-care. With specific experience in ICU settings, pediatric chronic illness, and infant and child loss, and direct hospital practice during the COVID-19 pandemic, I will not shy away from even your most difficult experiences.
